Spreading Beachbody Love in the UK
I’m so excited! I’ve been doing Turbofire while visiting my in-laws here in the UK. My sisters-in-law have tried doing it with me (1 of them somewhat successful, the other not so much…) and a neighbor too. They are all planning to buy a BB program! All you gotta do is share - it’s infectious!!

Turbo Fire: Week 4 Reflection
Yes, yes, yes! :) I finished the 1st month!
Exercise: Still enjoying it! The only problem I have (if you can call it a problem…) is that some of the days are so SHORT! I just want to keep going and have to FORCE myself not to pop in another DVD… It’s just really fun…
Favorite move: Ski in Fire 55 EZ - there’s some funky music that makes me giggle :)

Turbo Fire: Week 3 Reflection
Amazingly, against all odds, I finished week 3!
Exercise: I wasn’t exactly on schedule but I fit in the majority of the workouts and gave them my best. I insisted on doing them even if it wasn’t exactly convenient. I didn’t really get in the way but exercise is not part of the daily routine here so it was a little ‘odd.’ But, my sister-in-law did EZ 45 with me...

Turbo Fire: Week 2 Reflection
Week 2: Complete!
Exercise: I gave it my best this week - which wasn’t really as much as I would have liked. My schedule changed and I have more responsiblities and longer hours now so it was difficult adjusting… I missed working out on Thursday, unfortunately. I am still enjoying the workouts and really getting into the music now that I am a little more familiar with the...

Turbo Fire: Week 1 Reflection
Woot! I have completed week 1 of Turbo Fire. Let me say- yes, I love it. LOVE it. It’s Turbo Jam on Speed!
Exercise: There are some new moves, familiar old moves and some modified ‘pumped up’ versions of old moves. The music is great and Chalene, as always, is fantastic. On Friday I barely made it through the Fire 55 EZ class! I almost gave up - after the fire drills...

Are "Starchy" foods making you fat?
Well, Maybe…
Recent research has shown that populations who have historically had high-starch diets have developed more copies of the gene known as “Amylase” which helps to break down starchy foods.
What does that mean to you? It means that if you have more copies of this gene you are going to a) absorb more calories from starchy foods b) feel hungry more quickly and so...

Vitamins: Too much of a good thing?
More is not always better. Did you know that you can develop toxicities from things that seem ‘harmless’ including vitamins? Vitamins A,D,E & K are “fat-soluble” meaning that they are able to dissolve in fat. These can be stored in your body if you take in too much of them. ”Water-soluble” vitamins are more easily eliminated by your body unless you have...

Why Exercise at Home? - 10 Compelling Reasons
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of home workouts. However, I realize that some people need to “get out of the house” to exercise and that they enjoy the environment of a Gym. I encourage people to do what works for them.
But, if you have been considering trying to workout at home but haven’t started yet or think you might not get enough out of it or whatever...

"Fast" Food
We are all busy. But, that doesn’t mean we have a “pass” to make unhealthy food choices! Yes, even I have used it as an excuse before… But, sadly, it’s just not valid. If you are anything like me you don’t have the time/ energy to create an ‘interesting’ healthy lunch every day. If I have leftovers already pre-packaged from the night before-...

I commit to....
So, thinking back on the past couple of weeks I discovered that I have some improvements to make. So, starting today (because, there is no sense in waiting…) I commit to:
1. Drink more water! This has been an ongoing struggle for me… I’ve never been able to drink enough. I think this causes me a couple of problems: I don’t feel full and so I eat more, I...

How to avoid being over-fed by loved ones
I am staying with my in-laws at the moment. If you remember, these are the lovely folks that fed me into obesity the summer of 2009… No, I don’t blame them - they were very generous and loving and it is their culture to encourage visiting family and friends to eat yourself into a food coma.
Actually, I should probably be thanking them for that - it was the photos from that trip...

Why I became a Beachbody Coach
So, here’s the story…
A friend loaned me a copy of “Turbo Jam” in August of 2009. I used it, loved it and lost 30 lbs! (most of it between August and December). I bought Chalene Johnson’s next workout program: ChaLean Extreme that focuses on weight training - used it, loved it. I continued to use both of these programs for the next year and a half. Then...

"You look.... different."
Okay, so this is not the kind of post I expected to put up today. But, for the benefit of those of you going through weight loss and healthy living journeys I’m putting this out there…
Last night I was working with a pharmacist who I hadn’t seen in a while. We were discussing things totally unrelated to weight/health/exercise… Then, she notices that there is a photo...

Considering a Home Gym?
Are you considering “investing” in a Home Gym? Here are a few things to consider:
1. Exercises you Enjoy
The most important and most obvious consideration: What do you want to DO in your home gym? Are you a treadmill junkie? Love Exercise DVD’s? Enjoy Yoga? Weight Lifting? Considering a stationary bike because you have knee trouble? What you intend to do in your gym...

Beachbody Program Comparison Chart
Turbo Jam
I LOVE this program. This is the program that made me a believer in Beachbody. I lost 30 lbs and had fun! The moves are fun and not too complicated. The music is great. Chalene Johnson, the trainer, has fabulous energy - you will fall in love with her! :) If you are a beginner or intermediate level fitness I HIGHLY recommend this program!...
